Frequently Asked Questions

A1: Solar panels themselves are silent; however, the inverter located within the solar farm produces a faint humming sound. This noise is barely audible and can only be heard when standing directly next to the fence surrounding the solar farm

A2: Developer dependent, but typically developers cover the difference of reassessed tax value and what original taxes were (i.e. Reassessed taxes $10,000, original taxes were $2,000, developer covers the $8,000 difference)

A3: Developers will pay the back taxes and penalties to get the land out of the programs if a project gets approved.

A4: Each project has their own complex and nuanced hurdles to jump through to get to construction. The average project takes 2 to 4 years to get all approvals.

A5: Most projects use steel pilings that get driven into the ground, aluminum trays are mounted on top of the steel pilings, and then the panels are mounted onto the aluminum trays. Some projects require a 6 foot by 6 foot concrete to be poured for the transformer box to sit on it.

A6: Typically a decommissioning bond is put in place and required by most local governing bodies to ensure there is money set aside for the removal of the solar farm if a developer went bankrupt.
